The incidence of breast cancer is much more in the younger age group. Where earlier it was a disease primarily of the 50+ age group, it is now found increasingly in the younger age groups.

In India the incidence of Breast cancer is found to be more in cities and less in rural areas.
Overall, 1 in 28 women is likely to develop Breast cancer during her lifetime, more in urban areas (1 in 22) as compared to rural areas (1 in 60)
The average age for breast cancer in India is almost a decade lower than that in the West.
The incidence rates in India begin to rise in the early thirties and peak at ages 50-64 years
